Service Accomplishments
During the 2006-2007 program year, the AmeriCorps Promise Fellows reported success in all areas of their work. Over this past year, Fellows and Host Sites:
- Performed 98,600 hours of national service.
- Directly served over 29,000 students.
- Recruited 2,000 youth volunteers serving over 30,000 hours in their communities.
- Recruited over 2,000 adults volunteers serving over 34,000 hours working with youth.
- 100% of schools and communities hosting Promise Fellows reported increased capacity to serve clients, and to support and deliver programs.
- Nearly 60% of youth who participated in mentoring, tutoring, and service-learning programs supported by the Promise Fellows reduced their number of failing grades.
