PROMISE FELLOW OF THE MONTH
May 2010
Best Promise Fellow Experience: I think that my best Promise Fellow experience has to be the journey that has lasted now a year and a half with many highs and lows. I wrote about my journey in the most recent Promise Press.
Bio: I grew up in New Berlin, Wisconsin which is about an hour east of Madison and 15 miles west of Milwaukee. For the first 16 years of my life I lived in a restaurant named “The Magic Fan” which served Chinese American Cuisine. During high school I was activate in sports and other extracurricular activities. I decided to come to the University of Minnesota because it was a large college and it was far but close to home. Once I graduated I began looking for jobs mostly in the Twin Cities because I wanted to continue to coach wrestling at Saint Paul Johnson Senior High. Fortunately I found the opportunity to be an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow which allowed me to stay in the Twin Cities and still coach. As for next chapter in my life, I am uncertain and just fine with that.
