Minnesota Youth Meet Lt. Governor Tina Smith
At Youth Day At The Capitol Tuesday, March 21, 2017
What: Nearly 600 young people in grades 6-12 from across Minnesota will be part of Youth Day At The Capitol, an annual event designed to give young people an opportunity to talk to legislators about issues that are important to them, learn about the legislative process, and experience the power of youth voice.
When: Minnesota’s Lieutenant Governor Tina Smith will be meeting Minnesota youth and speaking to them at 12pm noon as part of Youth Day At the Capitol, an all-day event with break-out sessions, capitol tours and large group activities.

Lt. Governor Tina Smith will spend time informally meeting and then addressing
approximately 200-250 Youth Day At the Capitol attendees on the themes of advocacy, civic engagement and leadership.
In addition to meeting Lt. Governor Tina Smith, young people may attend break-out
sessions on the following topics throughout the day:
- Art + Activism with Minnesota singer/songwriter Jayanthi Kyle
- How Young People Can Have An Impact with youth political leader Elizabeth Kupchella
- A Reporter’s Take On the News with KARE 11 reporter Adrienne Broaddus
- Advocacy & Leadership Training with Grassroots Solutions’ Anne Johnson
