A few weeks ago, on my third day of service, I was asked to attend an annual be@school conference held on the University of Minnesota campus.  I was having a conversation with a gentleman, with whom I have had a previous working relationship with.  Upon informing him of my new role at Minnesota Alliance With Youth, he was just thrilled.  At the end of the conversation, he gave me a simple piece of advice: “Just soak it in.  Soak it all in, and enjoy your time there!”

This simple reminder has, and will stay with me, for the remainder of the year.  If I find myself feeling overwhelmed with information, concepts or deadlines, this little reminder is there to keep me grounded, and remind myself that no matter what, it is okay.  I may not have all the answers, or know all the information.  But I do know that I have so many amazing contributions that I can offer to the Alliance, and to my work through GradMN.  Together, as a whole, we will create some amazing change, and make a real difference.

So: here’s to embracing the unknown.  Here’s to not having everything figured out yet.  Here’s to asking so many questions.  Here’s to being curious.  Most importantly, here’s to the best year ever with the best team ever.  Let’s do it!
