AmeriCorps Promise Fellows
“The Promise Fellows are living examples to their communities about what it means to empower our young people to be active, positive change agents. No other state in the country has been so energized or better served by their AmeriCorps Promise Fellows program.”
– Peter Benson, President and CEO of Search Institute
To support schools and communities in their efforts to build capacity and deliver the fundamental resources young people need to succeed, the Minnesota Alliance With Youth hosts 80 AmeriCorps Promise Fellows across the state.
The Promise Fellows serve their communities at various host sites. The majority of Promise Fellows serve with School-Community Partnerships (SCP) which are collaborative networks of community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, school staff, parents, business leaders, government officials, and youth. SCP Fellows focus on recruiting and training community volunteers, coordinating tutoring and mentoring programs for students in need, and organizing service-learning projects.
Some Promise Fellows serve with Statewide Partner Networks (SPN) which are youth development intermediaries and capacity building organizations that work across the state. SPN Fellows focus on connecting the best practices and resources of statewide and national partners to local communities, as well as building cross-sector collaborations across the state.
No matter what Host Site a Promise Fellow is located at, all are dedicated to delivering the five fundamental resources to ensure that youth succeed.
