Below are our open AmeriCorps positions.  We currently have openings as AmeriCorps Promise Fellows and AmeriCorps VISTAs.  Positions are available statewide, in schools and community organizations!

Every year, exceptional people across Minnesota build lifelong leadership skills and support young people in their communities by serving in the Alliance’s AmeriCorps programs. Participants in these national service programs receive a living stipend and other benefits (optional insurance and child care assistance), mentorship and leadership training, and much more — while contributing directly to the wellbeing and success of Minnesota youth. 2023-24 AmeriCorps Promise Fellow

Positions available starting September 2023:

AmeriCorps Promise Fellows serve as caring adults who support, mentor, and build positive relationships with young people in 6-12th grades on their path to high school graduation. Promise Fellows provide one-on-one and small group support to a group of students in a school or non-profit organization.

2023-24 AmeriCorps VISTA

Positions available starting September 2023:

VISTA members build organizational capacity by strengthening and connecting existing resources and best practices to better serve youth, especially young people of color and young people living in poverty.

  • Promise Fellow- Metro Schools

    Orono School District/Community Education: Our students will maximize their potential in life because of their experiences in Orono Schools. Our commitment to fulfilling that mission is stronger than ever, and we’re excited to blaze new trails on the roadmap to the future. Orono’s three goals are scholarship, character, and relationships.

    PPL Loring Nicollet Alternative High School: Are you interested in  serving at a Minneapolis alternative high school where your day-to-date interactions create life-changing impact for youth at risk? If you have an interest in contributing to positive youth development, education equity, and social justice in a multicultural, informal atmosphere, consider becoming a Promise Fellow at Loring Nicollet Alternative School (LNAS). There, you will be a key link to students—working one-to-one with them to provide unique academic and social-emotional support and empowering them to achieve their goals.

    St Paul Public Schools- Murray Middle School: Are you interested in serving a diverse community of learners where your support can have a direct impact on the academic experience of today’s youth? If you have a passion for building positive relationships with students and colleagues, seeing students grow and succeed and being a part of a strong supportive community then this position is for you. Join our Murray community and help to prepare our youth for success in middle school, high school and beyond!

    Career Pathways: Career Pathways works to include underserved and disenfranchised students who do not achieve well in traditional settings, but who will flourish in this unique multi-age/multi-graded environment which promotes application of learning.     At Hidden River Middle School (formerly Ramsey Middle School), our goal is to help students gain global perspective. Through our International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), we emphasize the value of teaching students to ask questions and think critically about issues in our school community and the world. All classes at Hidden River are rooted in IB and engage students in lessons that are relevant to their lives.

    Mound Westonka High School is a grades 8–12 public high school in Mound, Minnesota.The Promise Fellow would work with administrators and experienced ADSIS support paras to discuss philosophy behind the support and collaborate on effective strategies to build relationships with students, communicate with teachers, and provide effective supports for students.

    Grandview Middle School serves approximately 600 students in grades 5-7 in the Westonka Public School District. Their passion for innovation and academic excellence means our graduates leave prepared for college and success in the 21st century.

    Northfield Community Schools (Middle and High Schools, Healthy Communities Initiative, Union of Youth): Join a dynamic cohort of 10+ Promise Fellows serving in Northfield, MN, to support the positive trajectory of over 300 local youth! If you are interested in education, social justice, closing the achievement gap, homelessness, mental health, youth development, community collaboration, collective impact and most importantly, young people, we have the perfect service position for you.

    Aitkin High School’s mission is to empower students to be life-long learners and citizens by maximizing community, parent, and staff involvement while developing high expectations and achievement in a safe learning environment.

  • Promise Fellow- Community Organizations

    Breakthrough Minneapolis at Blake: Are you someone who is passionate about educational equity, like to have fun, and want to support Minneapolis Public School students reach their full potential? Breakthrough is looking for an Americorps Promise Fellow to help support our amazing middle and high school aged students. This year-long service position is a great opportunity to gain important jobs skills that will help prepare you for your career path while also making an impact on the community. LearningWorks – Launched in 2000 through a unique public-private partnership between Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) and The Blake School (Blake), Breakthrough’s mission is to provide a challenging, year-round academic enrichment program for motivated and traditionally underrepresented students, setting them on a post-secondary path while preparing and inspiring talented college and high school students to become the next generation of educators. Formed to address the barriers to educational equity, LearningWorks has an aspirational vision of what school and learning could be for all students when education is student centered, culturally responsive and equitable.     Keystone Community Services: If you believe in the power of community, Keystone’s Community Kids is the program for you! Our students attend public, private, and charter schools; then they all come to our Community Center after school. They receive daily homework help and tutoring, and connect with youth and neighbors from their community. Our students love coming here and you will too! You will have the opportunity to mentor youth in a highly diverse, collaborative environment. Coach them to develop their talents, face challenges, solve problems, and achieve success in school and life.

    The mission of DinoMights is to equip our urban youth to develop Physical, Academic, Social and Spiritual excellence. We provide whole life youth development which includes ice hockey, academic support, mentoring, community service, leadership, and optional faith based activities. We foster relationships with our youth from early elementary years through high school graduation. DinoMights has achieved 86% high school graduation since 1995. Over the past three years 100% of DinoMights high school seniors have graduated on time. Today, with the support of AmeriCorps Fellows, we have the exciting opportunity to increase high school GPA, post secondary enrollment, matriculation into 4 year colleges and universities, and leadership skills.

    Youth First Community of Promise believes that young people are the very essence of the future. Who they are tomorrow is essentially the outcome of how they are raised and nurtured today.     Junior Achievement North envisions a world where young people have the skillset and mindset to build thriving communities. To help close the wealth and skills gap, JA delivers high impact and targeted programming to equitably expand access to life-changing financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship programming. Our K-12 sequential pathway approach ensures students are more likely to stay in school, pursue a post-secondary degree, and develop essential skills for the workforce such as critical thinking, problem solving, and time management. JA is committed to ensuring the best outcomes and deepest impact for students served by our program.  Junior Achevement has several VISTA positions available:

    St. Louis Park Public Schools‘  Volunteer Engagement VISTA will support in three main areas in the St Louis Park Public Schools’ Volunteer Program: 1. Placing volunteers – recruiting, training, celebrating and evaluating, 2. Program Growth – community resources, youth voice, partnership development, and 3. Financial support.

    FamilyWise Services (FWS) educates and empowers families struggling with poverty, substance abuse, mental health issues, homelessness & domestic violence, with a mission to strengthen families by promoting the safety, stability, and well-being of children. FWS fulfills this mission by educating communities about a collection of research called NEAR science (Neurobiology, Epigenetics/ Historical Trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) & Resilience research) so local champions can transform their understanding of how trauma impacts long-term health into action to support community resiliency-building efforts.

    For nearly 40 years, the National Youth Leadership Council has transformed classrooms, empowered teachers, and captivated students by leading the way in providing high-quality, dynamic service-learning content to school districts, classrooms, after-school programs, and everything in between.
