Alumni Star: Nancy Vang

Nancy served as an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow in 2014-15 at New Millennium Academy. Her experience as a Promise Fellow strengthened her commitment to support students of all ages to live more successful lives and be engaged with the community. Education access and support has always been crucial to Nancy’s work in student development.  Nancy says “I am so grateful that my middle school students helped me develop more confidence and passion by coordinating service projects and creating dialogue around college access.”

Nancy is now the Civic Engagement Program Coordinator at Hamline University, where she provides college students with community engagement resources and coordinates the University and Elementary partnership. She says, “Not only do I enjoy supporting my college students as they explore their interests and careers, but I feel so rewarded when they know they truly make an impact in the community by being engaged and volunteering!”
