One of the seniors who I’ve been working with closely for the past six months has really struggled with math. On the last day of school, she still didn’t have the grade needed to pass her Geometry class in order to graduate. The two of us spent four hours going through every unit from the quarter so that she could redo the assignments that she hadn’t done well on. By the end of the day, she had made up enough work to pass the class and was cleared to graduate! I was with her when she got the news that she would be able to graduate with her class, and it was amazing to share in her excitement. She is now the first member of her immediate family to have graduated from high school, and she’s headed to cosmetology school in the fall.
