Dear Community Partner,
I hope this finds you well! The Minnesota Alliance With Youth has a unique opportunity to expand its AmeriCorps Promise Fellows in Northern Minnesota Communities in the upcoming year. Due to an increase in federal funding, the Alliance will be hosting an additional 40 AmeriCorps Promise Fellows serving in community organizations and schools across the state starting August 15th. Northern Minnesota is defined as north of the 694 beltway around the Twin Cities up to the Canadian border. I’m reaching out to you to ask for your help in identifying communities or organizations that might be a good fit for hosting Promise Fellows and to consider hosting a Promise Fellow at your organization.
What Promise Fellows Do: Each Promise Fellow serves in a full-time capacity for one year & focuses on providing services to 30 youth in grades 6-10 at risk of dropping out of school through an integrated set of supports including connecting youth to caring adults, service-learning opportunities, and academic enrichment. Regularly reviewing data, interventions and progress, the Promise Fellow and host site design individualized interventions for youth both in and out of school to re-engage and reconnect them to school & learning.
What Host Sites Do: Host Sites commit to providing a Host Site Cash Match of $6,800 per Promise Fellow and ongoing support & supervision. The Alliance provides ongoing training & manages the AmeriCorps requirements & living allowance. More information on requirements & the application process for Northern Communities can be found here: https://mnyouth.net/promise-fellows/host/
Applications will be accepted & reviewed on a rolling basis with the goal of Promise Fellows beginning to serve by August 15, 2013.
If you are interested in hosting a Promise Fellow or know of an organization or individual we should connect with about this opportunity, please feel free to contact myself or Melissa Burwell, Director of Strategic Initiatives, [email protected], 612-616-2574 (cell), 651-528-8561 (office). Thank you for your help in spreading the word about this exciting initiative!
Sincerely,
Melissa Burwell
