Waiting Outside the Door

She already was comfortable enough to wait with me outside the door and talk.

I met with the 6th grade counselor and Sarah on the first day of school to discuss her anxiety. She was scared and anxious to go into her homeroom class. She already was comfortable enough to wait with me outside the door and talk, even though she just met me. I tried to tell her that everything would be okay and there wouldn’t be any hard work because it was just the first day, and I also waited outside the door for 5 minutes so she could see me while in class. She quickly got involved in class and didn’t notice me leave.

Now she barely even comes to see me anymore, which means she is more comfortable in school, but that, of course, also makes me kind of sad!
